How is my FIRE number calculated?
Your FIRE number is your annual retirement expenses divided by your safe withdrawal rate (for example, $40,000 ÷ 4% = $1,000,000). The countdown projects when your current investments, growing at your assumed return and topped up by your yearly contributions, are expected to reach that number. Tap “How this is calculated” on the Plan tab to see the math with your own figures.
Is this financial advice?
No. The app provides educational estimates only. Projections are illustrative and are not guarantees or personalized investment advice.
How do the free trial and Pro work?
You get full access to every Pro feature free for your first 14 days. After that, the core app (your FIRE number, the countdown, the standard home-screen and lock-screen widgets, and your growth chart) stays free forever. Pro is a one-time purchase that unlocks the advanced tools for good; there is no subscription and nothing auto-renews.
What does Pro add?
Pro adds the deeper planning tools: compare what-if scenarios side by side, a Monte Carlo chance-of-success simulation, every FIRE variant (Coast, Barista, Lean, Chubby, and Fat), time-phased pension and Social Security income, taxes on withdrawals, the contributions-vs-growth breakdown and history, and the progress-ring and target-date widget styles plus widgets pinned to a FIRE type. I bought Pro: how do I restore it on a new device?
Open Settings in the app and tap Restore purchases. Your one-time unlock is tied to your Apple Account and will be restored at no charge.
How do I change my numbers or go through setup again?
Edit any number on the Plan tab and your date and widget update right away. To rethink the whole plan in one pass, open Settings and tap Revisit your setup: it walks through the setup questions again, starting from your current numbers, and nothing is erased.
Does my plan sync between devices?
Yes, privately. If you use iCloud, your plan syncs across your own devices through your private iCloud database (Apple’s CloudKit, tied to your Apple Account). There is no account to create and no server of ours, and we never see your data. See the Privacy Policy for details.
How do I add the Home Screen widget?
Touch and hold an empty area of your Home Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, search for “FIRE”, pick the small, medium, or large size, and tap Add Widget. For the Lock Screen, touch and hold the Lock Screen, tap Customize, and add FIRE below the clock. Pro unlocks the progress-ring and target-date styles and widgets pinned to a FIRE type. To change the background, touch and hold the widget, tap Edit Widget, and choose Graphite (always dark) or System (light or dark); this is free. See the widget guide.
How do reminders work?
Milestone reminders mark each year to go, the final 200, 100, 30, and 7 days and the last day, and the points where your plan projects you at 25%, 50%, and 75% of your FIRE number. The monthly check-in, on the 1st, reminds you to update your investments so your date and widget stay current; it is skipped if you updated in the last 10 days. Both are free, scheduled on your phone, and can be turned off in Settings under Reminders.
Is my data private?
Yes. There is no account, no analytics, and no tracking. What you enter stays on your device, and if you use iCloud it syncs only through your own private iCloud, which we cannot read. The App Store privacy label is “Data Not Collected.” See our Privacy Policy.

Compré Pro, ¿cómo lo restauro en un dispositivo nuevo?
Abre Ajustes en la app y toca Restaurar compras. Tu desbloqueo único está vinculado a tu Apple Account y se restaurará sin coste.
¿Cómo cambio mis números o repito la configuración inicial?
Edita cualquier número en la pestaña Plan y tu fecha y tu widget se actualizan al instante. Para replantear todo el plan de una vez, abre Ajustes y toca Revisa tu configuración: vuelve a recorrer las preguntas iniciales partiendo de tus números actuales, y no se borra nada.
¿Mi plan se sincroniza entre dispositivos?
Sí, de forma privada. Si usas iCloud, tu plan se sincroniza entre tus propios dispositivos a través de tu base de datos privada de iCloud (CloudKit de Apple, vinculada a tu Apple Account). No hay ninguna cuenta que crear ni servidor nuestro, y nunca vemos tus datos. Consulta la Política de privacidad para más detalles.
¿Cómo añado el widget a la pantalla de inicio?
Mantén pulsada una zona vacía de la pantalla de inicio, toca Editar y luego Añadir widget, busca «FIRE», elige el tamaño pequeño, mediano o grande y toca Añadir widget. Para la pantalla bloqueada, mantenla pulsada, toca Personalizar y añade FIRE debajo del reloj. Pro desbloquea los estilos de anillo de progreso y fecha objetivo, y widgets fijados a un tipo de FIRE. Para cambiar el fondo, mantén pulsado el widget, toca Editar widget y elige Grafito (siempre oscuro) o Sistema (claro u oscuro); es gratis.
¿Cómo funcionan los recordatorios?
Los recordatorios de hitos marcan cada año que falta, los últimos 200, 100, 30 y 7 días y el último día, y los momentos en que tu plan proyecta que alcanzas el 25 %, el 50 % y el 75 % de tu número FIRE. La revisión mensual, el día 1, te recuerda actualizar tus inversiones para que tu fecha y tu widget estén al día; se omite si las actualizaste en los últimos 10 días. Ambos son gratis, se programan en tu teléfono y puedes desactivarlos en Ajustes, en Recordatorios.
¿Mis datos son privados?
Sí. No hay cuenta, ni analíticas, ni rastreo. Lo que introduces permanece en tu dispositivo y, si usas iCloud, se sincroniza solo a través de tu propio iCloud privado, que no podemos leer. La etiqueta de privacidad del App Store es «Datos no recopilados». Consulta nuestra Política de privacidad.
